Root canal

Common questions about general dentistry
Root canal treatment is required when the soft centre of the tooth, “the pulp” becomes injured or infected.
You may experience pain in your tooth alongside a warm sensation in your gums. To confirm whether a root canal is needed, we will invite you to a consultation and perform an x-ray on your tooth.
When choosing a crown material, there are three main factors to consider. These are; the fitting, the strength and the aesthetic. During your consultation, we can review which material would best suit you.
During the procedure, we will use anaesthetic. It is normal to feel some discomfort once this has worn off and you will also experience swelling and bleeding for the first 24 hours.
Tooth extraction is a is fairly straightforward out-patient procedure. However, it is important to rest for the first 24-48 hours after your treatment. It usually takes a few days to recover from tooth extraction.
